David Briley primarily engages in plaintiff’s personal injury and products liability litigation, commercial litigation and class action litigation. Immediately prior to joining Bone McAllester Norton, David served eight years as an At-Large Member of the Metropolitan Council of Nashville and Davidson County. During that time, he focused on ethics, budget, solid waste and government efficiency issues. He served on the Council’s Budget and Finance Committee, the Charter Revision Committee, the Greenways Commission, the Personnel Committee, the Ad Hoc Committee on Solid Waste and the Water Rate Oversight Committee. As a result of this experience, David also advises clients on local government relations matters.
David on… law, life and passion.
A well-known Nashville personal injury lawyer, David has represented clients in a wide variety of matters in state and federal court in Tennessee and California. Recently, he successfully represented a child who was catastrophically injured by a defective car seat.
Representative cases also include successful representation of wage and hour claims asserted by various employees, ongoing role as co-lead counsel in securities class action litigation and successful resolution of dozens of personal injury matters.
A native Nashvillian, David graduated from Montgomery Bell Academy in 1982 and then moved to Washington, D.C., to attend Georgetown University. Following graduation, David traveled to Latin America, where he worked on a volunteer project, taught English and became fluent in Spanish. He says the experience changed his perspective on what it means to have opportunities.
David honed his negotiation skills by serving eight years on the Metropolitan Council, serving Nashville and Davidson County. He explains that with 40 members, Nashville’s legislative body can present even the most experienced negotiator with a challenge.
David is married to Jodie Bell, who is also a member of the Bar, practicing criminal defense law in another Nashville law firm. They have a son, Sam, whose parents have already taught him the art of cross-examination and are routinely forced to apologize to his teachers because of this.
