Focus on LAW

Anne C. Martin concentrates her practice in the areas of commercial litigation and employment law, representing both employers and employees. She represents many different companies and individuals with a variety of business problems. She has been widely published in the areas of employment law as it relates to matters including discharge, disability leave, discrimination, harassment and non-compete agreements.

Before joining Bone McAllester Norton PLLC, Ms. Martin practiced with the Nashville law firm of Dodson, Parker & Behm, P.C.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Smith College, where she was President of the student senate and class Vice President. She earned her Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University Law School in 1992, where she was a member of the Moot Court Board.

Ms. Martin is extremely active in the local community. Most recently she was appointed to the Mayor's Advisory Council on Early Childhood Development and Education. She is on the board of the Interfaith Dental Clinic, and also serves on the boards of Community Nashville and of First Steps, Inc.  She has served as legal counsel for the Nashville Area Junior Chamber of Commerce, and has volunteered on that organization's board of directors and various other committees. She has also served on the board of the American Red Cross Tennessee Valley Chapter, as well as the Foster Care Review Board for Davidson County Juvenile Court.  Ms. Martin is a member of the Nashville Smith Alumnae Club, and previously served as Vice-President and President of that organization.

Ms. Martin is serving as a guest lecturer at the Belmont University  Center for Entrepreneurship during the fall 2009 semester, applying her expertise to a Venture Management class.  She is Large Firm Division Co-Chair for the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands' 2009 Campaign.  She recently served a three year term on the board of the Nashville Bar Association, of which she is still a member, and has formerly chaired its Employment Law and Civil Rights committee. She was in the 2005 class of the Tennessee Bar Association Leadership Law program, and has served on the steering committee since then. Ms. Martin has co-chaired the Continuing Legal Education committee for the Tennessee Bar Association, of which she is a member. She is a past President of both the National Association of Women's Bar Associations and the Lawyers' Association for Women in Nashville, and remains a member of these organizations, as well as the National Foundation for Women's Bar Associations.  Additionally, she participates in the American Inns of Court, Harry Phillips Chapter.

Since 2007, Ms. Martin has been honored with selection by her peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America®. In 2003 and 2009, the Nashville legal community named her to the Nashville Business Journal's "Best of the Bar," in the area of labor and employment law. She was selected for the 2009 edition of Mid-South Super Lawyers, and in 2004, was featured in The Tennessean's "Top 40 Under 40", as one of Middle Tennessee's foremost leaders.
