As our staff members arrived for work, they were greeted with a poster in the lobby of the Nashville City Center, personally thanking each individual by name. The day unfolded gradually when each team member arrived at their desk to find their travel itinerary, which outlined their schedule for the day. At noon, the staff and attorneys from all of our offices came together for a cross-cultural lunch, hinting at the afternoon’s activities. Following the lunch, Charles R. Bone thanked the staff and invited everyone to join their respective Bone Law attorneys who would serve as their tour guides on the afternoon’s adventure.

The tour guides led the staff on a journey through the Bone Law offices to six different “countries”: Italy, France, the Philippines, Jamaica, Nepal, Argentina and South Africa. At each country, an attorney in costume awaited each tour group, welcoming the staff members with a traditional greeting and fun facts about the country. As each tour group left a country, gifts and treats were passed out as a sign of the firm’s appreciation. For example, in Italy the staff received cannolis and a sample bottle of Prosecco. Each group finished at “baggage claim”, where our pilots, Charles W. Bone, Sam McAllester and Marty Cook, personally thanked each team member for their hard work and dedication, and handed over their “luggage” containing a cash bonus, the final token of appreciation for the day.

Thirty-one members from across the state were chosen for the leadership education program designed to cultivate a network of business, nonprofit, education and government leaders who are committed to addressing the state’s challenges and opportunities. Lipscomb University’s Nelson and Sue Andrews Institute for Civic Leadership announced the class members in a press release yesterday.

“I strongly believe that this experience will help the participants personally and will help make our state stronger,” Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam said in a press release. “When we learn more about other parts of the state, we understand issues more fully and can make more collaborative, informed decisions. I also appreciate the thought leadership of this group. This is a great program for Tennessee.”

Charles Robert concentrates his Nashville law practice in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and advising emerging businesses, entrepreneurs, officers, directors and governmental entities. He currently serves as the general counsel for the Convention Center Authority of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.

Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition!

Charles Robert Bone Announces Run for Mayor, Talks to Tennessean

Bone McAllester Norton attorney Charles Robert Bone announced his run for Nashville’s next mayor today. A prominent businessman and Democratic Party fundraiser, Charles Robert starting thinking about running at the end of last year. Wanting to continue the momentum the city has experienced in recent years, he believes the focus must also turn to being fiscally responsible. “The more I thought about it and the more conversations I had, I became convinced that Nashville was at a real crossroads, and I didn’t think we could afford to do anything to take a step back,” he told Tennessean reporter Michael Cass. “I think we need to continue to be bold but fiscally responsible in how we go forward.”

The election will take place in August 2015. Charles Robert will hold a kickoff and fundraising event on June 25.
