All aboard the hot chicken train!

Nashville is known for country music, cowboy hats and a tasty treat that is spreading like wildfire: chicken made hotter than Hades. “Hot Chicken” is a staple in our town and according to Wikipedia, anecdotal evidence suggests that spicy fried chicken has been served in Nashville for generations. Most people think of Prince’s Hot Chicken as the originator of this local delicacy, as the Prince family has been serving it for decades. Music City even hosts a festival devoted entirely to hot chicken on the 4th of July in east Nashville: the Hot Chicken Festival.

The 2012 Hot Chicken Festival is partnering with Nashville Originals, a group of local restaurateurs devoted to sustaining the independent restaurant, to present Hot Chicken Days: 30 Ways to Feel the Burn June 4th-July 4th. Over thirty restaurants will make their own creative version of hot chicken from appetizers, to salads and sides.

Bone McAllester Norton is a fan of Nashville Originals, and Alcoholic Beverage Team Leader Will Cheek regularly speaks to the group about Tennessee’s labyrinth of liquor laws.
