Nashville Ledger Profiles Will Cheek’s Support of Mayoral Candidate Megan Barry

Bone McAllester Norton attorney William T. Cheek III was profiled recently by the Nashville Ledger in support of Megan Barry’s Nashville mayoral runoff, happening Sept. 10. He told the news outlet he has been impressed by her ability to balance business interests with her socially progressive convictions.

“I think she’s done an excellent job of making the business community happy while at the same time pushing some things that are important to her heart but not to the point where it aggravates the business community,” he said.

Cheek leads the firm’s Alcoholic Beverage Law team and is a trusted legal adviser to small business owners.

Nashville Ledger Spotlights Tayo Atanda’s Efforts to Help Metro Students Find Path to College

The Nashville Ledger sat down with Olatayo (Tayo) Atanda recently to discuss the impact the young attorney has already had on the community, and their feature on him and his efforts was included on their website today.

Unlike many of his peers, Tayo has a record of involvement with public policy and social justice. While in high school and college, he spearheaded a project that shed light on the low percentage of students from low-income and first-generation immigrant families who pursue college. His report prompted Nashville Public Schools to enact a policy ensuring every student has access to college counseling and preparation.

“. . .I began to survey my peers, and I found out—shockingly—that about 90 percent of them had college aspirations. Yet only about 10 percent were making it to college. I decided to do something about it.”
