Raquel L. Bellamy is a dedicated advocate with a wide range of experience in civil and criminal litigation. She advises clients concerning business, entertainment, and employment disputes. Raquel also advises individuals and corporations concerning immigration and nationality law. She has defended and advanced immigrant rights for individuals from over 50 countries.



  • Advises local criminal counsel on the immigration consequences of a criminal conviction for defendants who are not U.S. citizens.
  • Won defensive asylum for Honduran woman who entered the United States after suffering years of domestic abuse.
  • Represented El Salvadoran family of minors fighting rare genetic disease in their application for B-2 visa for U.S. medical treatment.
  • Represented Kenyan geneticist of extraordinary ability approved for EB-2 Petition for Permanent Residency with National Interest Waiver based on his contribution to the United States through research on pre-term birth and infant mortality.
  • Represented Iraqi businessman of extraordinary ability in EB-2 Petition for Permanent Residency with National Interest Waiver based on his contribution to the United States through global education.
  • Represented Mexican national granted a provisional unlawful presence waiver based on extreme hardship to his wife from her history of depression and anxiety.
  • Represented dozens of individuals seeking lawful permanent residency for immediate relatives who are foreign nationals.
  • Represented dozens of minors seeking Special Immigrant Juvenile Status or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.

Litigation/Administrative Law

  • Represents healthcare companies, nurse practitioners, and physicians across the country facing criminal and civil False Claim Act investigations by state and federal authorities.
  • Represented individual in federal lawsuit involving copyright and trademark disputes following her publication of books, movies and television programs.
  • Represented media production company in connection with a contract interpretation dispute.
  • Represented multiple individuals and corporations at the trial level in prosecution and defense of tort claims such as libel, defamation, negligence, intentional misrepresentation, inducement of breach of contract, and tortious interference.
  • Represented multiple individuals seeking damages against sellers of real property for failure to disclose serious defects as required under the Tennessee Residentialed Property Disclosure Act.
  • Represented multiple individuals at the trial level in Tennessee state courts facing criminal charges such as assault, probation violations, and use or possession of scheduled narcotics.


  • Represented corporations facing investigation by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Raquel currently serves on the boards of Conexión Americas and Equal Chance for Education, LLC. She lends her experience to future attorneys through mentorship and academia. Raquel mentors students through the Nashville Bar Association High School Intern Program and Equal Chance for Education, LLC. She is also an adjunct faculty member at Vanderbilt University Law School.

About Raquel

Raquel is an avid runner. She is on a mission to run at least a half-marathon in all 50 states. Raquel is bilingual and has studied abroad in Spain and Argentina. She is married to Christopher M. Bellamy, also a lawyer.
