Robert M. “Bob” Langford began his professional career as an Attorney in Nashville, Tennessee with then Bone, Langford & Armistead. With more than 30 years of national food and beverage and franchisee experience, Bob returns to private practice to serve the clients of Bone McAllester Norton. Bob’s years of experience in the restaurant industry make him an expert in food and beverage and franchise law.
As a lawyer, he began an association with Shoney's Inc. in 1980. He served in various legal and functional capacities, including development issues and involvement with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Food Service and Lodging Institute, and the National Restaurant Association.
In 1985, he became a Shoney's franchisee. Shoney's, Inc., purchased Bob’s franchise in 1990 and asked him to join the company as Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary. In 1996, the Board of Directors of Shoney's, Inc., appointed Bob as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. In 2000, Bob was appointed Chairman of the Board and CEO of Phoenix Restaurant Group, a restaurant company overseeing 180 units based out of Scottsdale, Arizona. He led the move of the company headquarters to the Nashville area in 2001.
Bob further balanced his career in Franchisor/Franchisee relationships by serving as the Office of the Chairman with Denny’s Inc. He served as Co-Chair of the Franchisee alongside the CEO/President of Denny’s Inc. on behalf of the Denny’s Steering Committee who integrated the operational, marketing, and development components of the Denny's brand.
Professional Recognition and Activities
Bob enjoys spending time with his family, golfing with his daughter, pontooning on Old Hickory lake, going to his nephew’s baseball games. He takes pride and speaks frequently about his Mom and Dad’s Music Row ministry (1951-1982)
